Using sedation, we can help put the patient completely at ease so you are relaxed and comfortable throughout. In some cases, a particularly nervous or anxious patient may want to use sedation to help relieve any worries they have and to make the treatment a more comfortable experience. If you’re worried about how you may feel during a treatment – however big or small – please don’t hesitate to tell a team member, and we’ll be able to talk through the sedation treatment.
We also use sedation during longer and more complex treatments, such as placing implants and full mouth rehabilitation treatments. We can ensure you’re comfortable and pain-free throughout the treatment. In many cases, patients will not even remember having the treatment, although they will be alert and awake throughout the experience.
At North Down Implant and Orthodontic Clinic, we use intravenous sedation. This method of sedation is delivered intravenously, i.e. through a vein, and is most effective during long, complicated treatments. Patients requiring sedation treatment will need to ensure they have someone to take them home from the practice, as they cannot leave unescorted.
